Poolville ISD Staff, Board Members and Community,

I am writing this letter with the mindset that we will start the 2020-2021 school year as scheduled. The 2020-2021 Board approved calendar has teacher in-service starting on August 10th and students returning on August 19th. With that said guidance has been forthcoming from both state and national levels. There are currently three options for parents to consider before the start of school:

Parents can send kids to school for face to face learning;

Parents can keep kids at home for virtual learning; or

A combination of face to face and virtual learning.

It is the belief of Poolville ISD that a return to normalcy, sooner rather than later, would benefit all students and our community. Therefore, we are strongly encouraging option 1. Of course, with the current public health crisis continuing to be an issue, we understand that there will be some hesitancy on the safety of our students. However, we assure you that we will take every precaution and follow every guideline set forth by the CDC and the state of Texas for all of our staff and students. We are scheduled to receive Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) from the state consisting of masks, hand sanitizer, gloves, the1mometers, and face shields for the protection of our staff and students. As of now, the state has not mandated social distancing or the use of PPE, but we plan to have equipment on hand if the situation changes. As you know, things are continually changing during this pandemic, and we strive to be as prepared as possible for these changes. Barring an Executive Order from the Governor’s office, we will proceed with starting school with the adopted calendar. A copy of the calendar can be found on the school website at

We hope you are as excited as we are to start this school year! We miss our students and look forward to getting started and giving them the best education possible!
